El Festival Internacional de la Imagen, realizado por el Departamento de Diseño Visual de la Universidad de Caldas, en Manizales, Colombia, es un espacio de encuentro y debate en torno a temas relacionados con artes electrónicas, creación audiovisual digital, sonido digital y electroacústico, y, en general, las nuevas relaciones entre arte, diseño, ciencia y tecnología.

El Festival Internacional de la Imagen, que se realiza desde el año 1997, es considerado un evento de relevancia internacional, teniendo en cuenta que es el único en Latinoamérica que propone la generación de un espacio de discusión en ámbitos de la creación digital, integrando arte, diseño, ciencia y tecnología a través de encuentros presenciales, seminarios científicos especializados, convocatorias nacionales e internacionales, foros de análisis, conciertos, talleres, exposiciones y transmisiones vía Web, entre otros.

El Festival Internacional de la Imagen está abierto a las múltiples posibilidades de las expresiones audiovisuales y en esta novena versión se realizarán las siguientes actividades:

Call for Participants www.syntheticaesthetics.org February 2010

We seek participants for a research project on synthetic biology, design, and aesthetics. The project will provide funding to bring together scientists and engineers working in synthetic biology with artists, designers, and other creative practitioners. Resources will be made available for ‘embedded residencies’, in which artists and designers will spend time in laboratories, and scientists and engineers in artistic studios and design workspaces. It is our intention that such collaborations will produce presentable results, although the form these take is entirely open to the participants.  
Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the project.
We aim to construct the groundwork for future collaborations that could inform new types of engineering, new schools of art and design, and innovative approaches to the study of synthetic biology in society.

Uno de ellos se refiere, por ejemplo, a Carolina García Lino, una boliviana de 28 años que estudia botánica en Concepción, sobre la que solicita información Erika García.


Por su parte, Yuri Galdames pide información sobre Marcela Alejandra Palma López, de Talcahuano.

Google estableció un servicio similar tras el terremoto de Haití, el cual acumuló 58.700 registros.

The two-year part-time MAS Scenography offers graduates and design professionals a creative platform for exploring and developing their individual design language and practice. El próximo día 17 de marzo a partir de las 18h. tendrá lugar en el centro de las artes de Sevilla una de las actividades que más vinculación emocional tiene con ZEMOS98, la realización en directo de Radioactivos Expandido, un programa de radio sobre el procomún cotidiano.

Buscamos personas, proyectos, iniciativas, colectivos, que desde una posición invisible, hagan algún tipo de aportación al procomún. Prácticas cotidianas que giren en torno a la lógica de la cultura libre. Para afinar un poco más, esto es lo que realmente queremos:
Reinventar la vida cotidiana.
Generar espacios para la educación expandida, el conocimiento compartido y la inteligencia colectiva.
Importar ideas del procomún que sean aplicables a otros contextos, a nuestro contexto. Apropiacionistas de lo cotidiano.
Ser una máquina de ánimos, donde lo popular, lo común, lo habitual nos permita ver el mundo por vez primera.
Saber qué ocurre en los márgenes del escenario, divertirnos con los funambulistas de las realidad.

CuratorLab is an international self-directed curatorial course dedicated to the advancement of curatorial practices based on research in the arts, crafts and design. It is designed to offer time to conduct research and to explore new directions and ideas in order to develop artistic or theoretical work while linking academic study to cultural projects.

The program offers the participants the possibility to develop and realize one individual or collaborative project in the form of a public presentation, i.e. exhibition, lecture series, publication, screenings, seminar, for which CuratorLab provides professional feedback and practical support as well as a moderate research/production budget.

The ElectroSmog festival is a critique of the worldwide explosion of mobility, and an exploration of the new forms of connectedness with others offered to us by network and communication technologies.

OMG I'm on .TV is post-analog TV station broadcasting in Vancouver on channel 14. We're broadcasting internet content to your TV, through a low-power TV transmitter. The website acts as an aggregator of online video content. You get to create the shows, vote on the shows, and participate in the whole process.

The TV station will run during the Vancouver Olympics and will explore new content broadcast through an old nostalgic format. So if not so interested in sports, and just want to zone out, then tune in. So enjoy it while it lasts.

There are a lot of great things about analog TV in addition to its fuzzy format. We love the lack of control. On the web, so many options create a panic of possibilities. Facebook excommunicates WORM because of the Web2.0 Suicide Machine


It is with great sorrow that we announce that Facebook Inc. has decided that WORM, the producer of the Web 2.0 Suicide Machine, will be excommunicated from Facebook.

The initiative to build the Web 2.0 Suicide Machine came from Moddr_, WORM’s media lab. By threatening WORM, Facebook is trying to take down the Suicide Machine.

The Web 2.0 Suicide Machine allows users of - among others - Facebook to commit ‘social network suicide’. Facebook threatens WORM with further legal action if WORM doesn’t stop targeting the FaceBook platform via the SuicideMachine. In addition, it has now also demanded that WORM immediately deletes its own Facebook profile (WORM_Rotterdam). According to Facebook and its lawyer, the Web 2.0 Suicide Machine has violated Facebook’s Terms of Service and with that WORM has forfeited it’s right to keep using the platform. WORM does not want to engage in a fight over this matter with Facebook. The idea behind the Web 2.0 Suicide Machine was to be able to ‘unfriend’ in an automated fashion and to make users of social networks aware that they should always be in control of their own data. Facebook won’t allow for this control and is also not willing to enter into this debate. We are pretty much done with that and are left with no other choice than to commit online suicide ourselves. The conditions and attitude of Facebook leave no other option as far as WORM is concerned.


WORM deeply regrets the current situation. The web 2.0 Suicide Machine was never intended to target Facebook as such, but meant as a tool for people who, for whatever reason, are tired of their online life. Facebook wants all access to their service, personal data of their users included, to run via their own ‘connect’ platform. In this way, Facebook can set, interpret and change its own rules as it sees fit...


The excommunication of WORM illustrates that data freedom and net neutrality of users is merely an illusion on many social network sites. Not only is it not allowed for people to unfriend (in an automated manner), but companies also have the power to expel users they do not like. Facebook shows that a user only has the rights that Facebook grants it.


Facebook claims all rights. WORM does not want to continue living in this 2.0 world. Which is why we say goodbye to all our friends. We wish you all the best.
